With her family all with her in the past Clare and her clan start to build their new lives. Fraser Ridge is becoming a lively little community and Clare's medical skills are in high demand. One blight on the horizon is the coming War of Independence with Britain. Jamie knows what has to be done, but bides his time before he declares his position. A tense time for the family and the Ridge.

Meeka's side note:
This wasn't as good as the other novels, it just seemed to lack something and the "skills" that Clare has in the medical profession are absolutely amazing. She's a surgeon in her own time, but apparently she can do it all. A trifle hard to swallow. And there is still Brianna to deal with. Seriously that character just annoys the heck out of me.
