Kay Scarpetta adult fiction - mystery / thriller series:

Okay, I know she's a New York Times bestselling author and all, but all of the Kay Scarpetta novels drive me bonkers. I read them as a teenager and really liked them. I re-read them as an adult and I hate them. Don't get me wrong, they are fast paced novels, but I have no sympathy for her characters, they drive me up the wall. I mean really, it's just too unbelievable to be real. And to top it off in book 9 of the series she kills of a character, mutilation, dismemberment, the works and then suddenly in book 12 or 13 he's back from the dead! WHAT?!?!?!?! She should have stopped when she was ahead. Oh and her entire writing style changed with book 13 as well, which REALLY makes them even harder to read.
