One Big Damn Puzzler
Adult Fiction
Out somewhere in the South Pacific sits a little island. Nothing very special about it, but it's location. During the war, the English and then the Americans came and brought the island a few things to remember them by. A hotel and land mines. William Hardt comes to the island looking to gather testimony so he can sue the American government to get compensation for the islanders for their suffering they've gone through. He makes friends with Managua, an islander, and together they gather the evidence. But well on the island, William is studied by the natives as much as he studies them. Especially on the shitting beach.

Meeka says:
Filled with humour and wit, this was a joy to read, especially Managua's attempts to translate Hamlet into the local language. It's also a novel about finding oneself in the oddest places. I really enjoy this one.
